Hey! i'm the current owner of the popcornpals.net domain.

I'm not the original owner, so that link you found on your plush is just sending you to an abandoned website. But now since I own the domain, I feel like you deserve some more information.

If you found the "secret" (the image of one of the plushies sat on a chair to "creepy" music), you most definitely found this too.. the secret actually made someone believe that their plushie was cursed (oops)

The reason I bought this domain was because one of my friends owns one of the PopcornPals plushies (you can see a picture of it on the main page and on the "secret" page) We saw the tag on it that read "www.popcornpals.net" so we went to the website, there was nothing there, so I bought the domain as a joke.

The Popcorn Pals seem like they were a series of comic strips created by Oyez Limited and originated in Hong Kong. Below are the only two I could find on the internet, the others are lost to time.

However, there's also a written backstory:

Doctor Ross has two pets named Justin and Phoebe. He does many researches on genetically modified plants. He made popcorn with his genetically modified corn and it was accidentally eaten by Justin and Phoebe. After they ate the popcorn, their skin colors changed and they became as intelligent as humans and able to understand human language. They soon became best friends because of their uniqueness. Doctor Ross realizes their transformation and tries to keep them in his backyard, but they often go out to the neighborhood and make fun of the people around them. This is how the adventure and story of Popcorn Pals begins.

I also found a save of one of the original news pages from 2005 at: popcornpals.net/news which shows 2 broken images (lost to time), 2 ads, and 4 photos of the plushies being sold in the real world!

I hope this could help you and reassure you that your popcorn pals plushie isn't cursed and that you should treat your (possibly rare?) plushie with the love and care it deserves
